Yes, here they are - a compilation of all the things we say to ourselves when we are just having a real hard time of it out there. It happens to all of us, so if you are grasping for something positive to say to yourself, take a hold of one of these surf affirmations :)
* One Wave at a Time
* Progress . . not Laird Hamilton
* Take what you like and leave the rest . . . in the ocean
* Keep coming back, your arms will get stronger
* Let Go and Let Grom
* You've already proven that you can do what you set out to do, stick with it.
* Dayum! This wetsuit makes my badunka-dunk look fabulous!
* You can't get worse by getting out there . . . (but you probably won't get better sitting in front of the computer )
* Getting out there and trying is more than what 95% of people will do; sticking with it and not giving up probably puts you over 99%.
* If you surf all the time, you can eat anything you want and never exercise.
* Knee paddling makes you go from a Capri Sun Pack to a Six Pack.
* The best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun.
* Don't give up before the miracle happens. *The student says to the teacher, "I am discouraged. What shall I do?" The teacher says, "Encourage others."
* Even if you don't catch a wave, you are gaining paddling strength.
Take your pick - as long as you don't give up, you can't lose! Which reminds me of another really good saying:
"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi
We've all met people who have never wiped out out before - but none of them ever surfed.
